So... it's be a minute since I've updated this thing. Here goes:
Well first, I am now officially a grad school graduate. A few weeks ago I got my Masters degree in Art Education. I can't even tell you how happy I am to be finished. Grad school was fun, but boy was it taxing! Definitely going to enjoy my free time
Which brings me to my next topic -- my creator owned comic. If you recall my last journal entry talked about my foray into the creator-owned comic world, alas it had to be put on the back burner for a spell because 1) those last few weeks/months of grad school were killer! and 2) I accepted a gig from Zenescope Entertainment to color Grimm Fairy Tales #99. I was super excited to be a part of their epic Age of Darkness story line and the lead up to the landmark issue #100. Here's the official ad, and you can pre-order using Diamond Code MAY141745:
Also, I colored Cover E by the amazing Talent Caldwell. I'll post a larger version closer to the release date, but here is a little taste
I have some more work lined up with Zenescope in the near future so it looks like my dreams of creator-owned comics will have to wait a bit. I am okay with that because working with Zenescope has afforded me numerous opportunities to showcase my work and reach a wider audience. And if doing a little freelance work broadens my base and gets more people interested in me and my work, that can only help me in the long run when I do eventually venture out on my own.
Please stay tuned as I'll do my best to keep you guys updated on my endeavors. Thanks so much for all the support, and favs and comments -- I truly appreciate it.

2014 and beyond...
Been a while since I updated my journal here, and with March quickly approaching, now seems like a perfect time to let you awesome folks in on the goings on of your favorite NorthChavis :)
2014 IS GOING TO BE MY YEAR!!
No if, ands, or buts about it. I'm SUPER excited for this year for several different reasons. #1: I will be completing graduate school in May! That will be the culmination of 3 long years of study. But beyond that, it'll free up my time to focus on several projects that have been long-dormant. Which brings me to #2: I'm going to be crafting my first comic book property from scratch! I've been noodling with an idea for the bet
Commission for 1-Yr Subscription...?
Anyone interested? NOTE ME if you are.
Thanks,
Stephen
5-yr dA Anniversary
Can't believe it's been 5 years since I started posting on this site...! Time sure does fly by. I've been quite busy lately with school that I actually didn't realize it :) I hope all of you are well. I know I've been M.I.A. for the past 5 or so months, but I'm eagerly anticipating a summer return when school is over and I can take a breather. Just wanted to thank all of you for the continued support. Hope to drop some new pieces for you pretty soon, so stay tuned!
Stay blessed,
Steve a.k.a. NorthChavis
